Positive Reflection Mosaic
Create a beautiful mosaic using safety glass as your tesserae. The complex fractures in the glass catch the light and make the colors below look like sparkling gem stones. You can choose an 8”x8” frame that can hold a picture or saying, or a 7” x 14” mirror with a positive quote or affirmation. See the examples in the gallery. This is a great mosaic piece for beginners…quick and easy.
*This is a two day class 2 ½ hours each day.

Pique Assiette Mosaic
In this class you’ll be making a one of a kind mosaic using pieces of broken china, pottery, tiles, mirror, glass nuggets, etc. I’ll teach you how to use the tile nippers and let everyone have some hands on experience using my tools. Due to the time it takes to get all the tesserea broken up, I’ll have most of this done for you. So you can get right to the fun stuff! However, if you have anything you’d like to incorporate into your mosaic, bring it in!

Stained Glass Mosaic
In this class you’ll be creating a colorful mosaic using an assortment of beautiful colored stained glass pieces and use one of my cutout designs as a base. I’ll bring in an assortment of shapes, things like butterflies, dragonflies, mermaids, fish, frogs, lizards, turtles, dolphins. In this class you’ll learn how to use all the tools for scoring, cutting,breaking, and nipping stained glass. I’ll also help you choose a grout color to make your colors POP! This is a fun class so grab a friend and join us!

NEW!!! Texture Painting
In this class we’ll be using some unusual materials from the hardware store to create our “texture”!! Then I’ll show you the way I layer paint colors to get beautiful combinations. I’ll bring in various bases for you to choose from. You can make one large, two medium or three small textures pieces.

Mosaic Teacher – Adults and Children Classes
I’m a self-taught mosaic artist, originally from Holland, MI, but I’ve lived in Sarasota for the past 47 years. I’ve taught many different crafts over the years, but when I discovered mosaics…That was it! I’ve taught mosaic classes since 2002. Two of my favorite mediums to mosaic with are stained glass, (due to the variety of beautiful colors and textures available) and tempered safety glass (because the clear, fractured glass acts as a “lens” to view the colorful surface below, and because it can conform to almost any shape!) I love to use lots of COLOR in my art work and enjoy inspiring others to tap into their creativity.
