If your child is taking a morning and afternoon classes, then please prepare your child with a bag lunch and have them bring a reading book, computer game, drawing pad and pencils or outdoor game. They will have some free time after they eat their lunch before starting the afternoon camp.

Enjoy creating animals in art, using pencil, pen and paint. Students will learn to see the basic shapes in animals, so that they become more confident in their approach. They will explore ways of creating textures such as fur, fins, scales and feathers, and how those methods may vary with the media used. All pencils, paints, brushes and papers will be provided.

Kids of all ages love to doodle, and kids love coloring books!
In this fun class, we will be using the famous ZENTAGLE method and easy instructions to teach each camper how their doodles can grow into beautiful patterns and designs.
Doodle patterns will be used in creating unique and decorative black line drawings. These drawings will be scanned and printed on thick white paper, assembled into a multipage, individual coloring books or even a large poster.
Hours and hours of coloring fun are guaranteed!

Students will learn to take creative and original photographs that focus on design and color! Students will learn about composition, “close up” photography, form and movement within a picture! Students will explore the world with their camera and shoot a photo series of beautiful abstract close ups! Students will learn about the relationship between the elements of a photograph and mood! You don’t need a fancy camera to join – any point-and-shoot or even a cell phone camera will do.
PSYCHEDELIC DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY USING PHOTOSHOP

Students will use their digital camera and adobe Photoshop to create beautiful and vibrant Psychedelic “Photo-Paintings”. Students will learn an original technique of photographic distortion that results in a liquid-abstract effect that is colorful and expressive! Wonderful results that look great framed and hanging on any wall!! You do not need a fancy camera to join – any point-and-shoot or even a cell phone camera will do. Laptop computer and Photoshop required.
PAINTING LANDSCAPES IN ACRYLICS

This class will help students achieve a natural, believable appearance in their landscape painting. Come and explore some brush techniques to create palm fronds, full leafed trees, clouds, stunning sunsets, and water reflections. All painting materials and canvases are provided.

Is your child REALLY interested in playing on the computer? Would you like to channel screen time in a creative direction this summer? At Colleen Cassidy’s, we have set up a brand new summer schedule-where Digital meets Art: Computer Camp! Teacher Elisabeth Rusling, an experienced Design and Visual Communications teacher, certified in Sarasota, has developed a series of fun digital projects meant to be created on the computer, using Adobe Photoshop and Flash software.
Campers will design greeting cards, retouch old photos, draw animations and explore outrageous lettering styles. Each project will be taught in simple-to-follow steps, but the final results will please and amaze you, and provide hours of fun and learning for your child. Each student must bring their own laptop, notebook, pen and mouse. Digital cameras are good to bring, but are optional. A CD will be provided as part of the class, containing tutorials and reference material. Projects may be printed out in color for an additional $10 fee. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND PHOTOSHOP & LIGHTROOM

Digital Photography Camp- Are you just starting out or looking to learn more about your camera and what it can do for you? We’ll cover everything from initial camera settings, portraits, action, pet, and abstract photography. You’ll get to know your camera’s capabilities combined with specific shooting techniques – culminating in better photos. Then we’ll develop our images in Photoshop LIGHTROOM. Lightroom is a photographer friendly virtual darkroom and transforms your good photos to great! (Suitable for framing).
CRAFTING METAL JEWELRY AGES 13-up

Having fun learning the basics of working with wire to handcraft your own jewelry. This class will focus on the proper use of tools and techniques used in making Metal Earrings, Bracelets and necklaces. Copper and brass wire is included along with handcrafted sterling silver ear wires for two pairs of earrings, for you to incorporate into your design. Other tools and materials may be purchased locally. This is a class that will get your feet wet in the waters of crafting metal jewelry! Appropriate for ages 13 and up.

Students have fun forming animals in a variety of media, including firing clay and air-dry clay, wire, papers, and Styrofoam. Creations will be realistic and whimsical , depending on the media. Strategies for texture will be addressed, as well, as well as choice of bases, methods of stabilization and presentation.

In this class we will be making beautiful mosaic creatures from the rain forest! These colorful creatures will be created using pieces of stained glass, bits of mirror and colorful glass nuggets. There will be an assortment of cut out butterflies, lizards, dragonflies and frogs for you to choose from. You will learn how to use all of the stained glass tools and techniques, and have fun getting “down and dirty” on grouting day!

In this class we will be making a treasure/keepsake box, a textured tile, “pop-up cards and a mixed media canvas. You will learn how to create some textures and designs on our projects using some unconventional mediums like shaving cream and ink (to make marbled paper) and joint compound. We will make unique, one of a kind hand made stamps, and create a collage on our canvas using some of our marbled papers, stencils, paints, and other embellishments. So lets get messy and have some fun.

Inspired by artist Chuck Close, students will learn to create a Photo Mosaic Self Portrait made up of hundreds of tiny pictures of themselves. This Pop-Art style Portrait is truly amazing!

Explore the vibrancy of pastel artwork, as you create organic and geometric designs, strange colored animals, a seascape, and vibrant still life. Students will learn techniques for creating shadows and highlights, approaches to detail, and ways of preserving their pastel paintings.

Learn to paint watercolors with different techniques and tricks. You will turn your watercolor paintings into 3d art by cutting, tearing and gluing the paper to make fish aquariums, weaved baskets, flowers and more. All supplies will be included.

This class will cover all the basics of drawing, including volume through shading and highlighting, applying texture, using proportion, as well as strategies for improving composition and natural perspective. Let your imagination go wild and dive deep into you creativity when you make these wonderfully colorful creatures and other things you would find “under the sea”. In this exciting class we will be creating a variety of fun mosaics in the shapes of fanciful fish, mermaids, turtles, sharks, dolphins and seahorses using a rainbow of colored stained glass pieces, jewel colored glass cabochons and bits of mirror for a bit of sparkle!
MOSAICSBITS AND PIECES FRAME CLASS

TEACHER: LAURIE DUNHAM In this class we’ll be using bits and pieces of stained glass in a rainbow of colors to create a one of a kind mosaic frame. We’ll also add glass gems and bits of mirror for added sparkle. This is an easy class for beginners, as most of the cutting and breaking has already been done for you. You can create a geometric design with swirls and shapes or create your own unique design. You’ll learn how to use the glass cutters, nippers and breaker pliers, and also how to choose the right grout color to make your colors POP! SEA LIFE SPLENDOR

Discover several ways to work with sea life imagery. You will create a firing clay relief sculpture, a sea life diorama, a printed scene and a painting. Explore this theme while learning new art techniques. All materials included.

This class addresses the face and figure in drawing, helping students become more comfortable with drawing people. Students will work on proportion of the body and face, expression, and shading techniques. They will also create a caricature, and use modeling clay in some of their work. In this class you will design a floor cloth and paint it using acrylic paint and seal it so it can be used as a floor mat. You will also learn how to paint furniture. You will sand, prepare the wood, paint it, add collage, beads, textures and seal the wood. You can choose from birdhouses, picture frames, boxes and step stools.

In this class you will learn lots of different techniques used in watercolor painting. Each day we will do a different painting so by the end of the week you will have all the basic steps to paint on your own. We will do a sunset, beach scene, fish, flowers and architecture.
